In addition to semibreves and minims, you will also find crotchet or quarter notes in the sheet music of your favourite songs.
Crotchets or quarter notes are coloured in notes with a stem. They are played or held down for 1 beat.
Time to Play!
Mindful of your posture, play each of these lines of crotchets/quarter notes using your right hand and all of 5 of your fingers. Make sure that you hold each note down for 1 beat and that you play 4 notes in every bar.
Take it slowly at first in order to be able to play through the examples in a comfortable and relaxed manner. Increase the tempo at which you count the beats as you become more confident with this skill. Use different effects and a range of instrument sounds, giving yourself plenty of time to express your creativity.
Learning to play piano/keyboard is fast, easy and fun so it's never too late to realise your dream of being able to play your favourite music.
